Policies & Procedures

Every company needs to have set policies and procedures for their employees for Internet Access, Virus Protection, and Software Installation.  Let T & R Communications help you put together policies and procedures that will protect you, your company, your organization and your employees.

INTERNET POLICY

The Internet is a key research tool for many organizations. Likewise, e-mail is a convenient and usually inexpensive way for organizations to connect with clients, customers, and trading partners. However, it is easy for users to abuse both of these services.

According to Nielsen//NetRatings, in June 2001, more than 42 million employees logged on to the Internet from their work desktops. This number marked an increase of 23 percent from June 2000. “Time spent online grew to 200 hours and 38 minutes online in June 2001,” the report stated. This averages to about an hour a day per employee. While some of this time involves work-related activities, it is likely that much of it is spent on personal use.

When you suspect that a large amount of nonbusiness browsing and e-mail sending is occurring among your users, it is time to implement an Internet usage policy. Yet, according to a recent survey, many organizations already follow an established policy. But for the 35 percent of organizations without one, it’s time to consider creating such a policy.  (...more...)

VIRUS PROTECTION POLICY

Every organization should have a virus protection policy

Developing an effective virus protection policy is a crucial component of every network security plan. Such a policy should accomplish two goals:

  • Detail the IT department's procedures for preventing and managing virus outbreaks.
  • Educate end users about their roles and responsibilities in preventing virus outbreaks.

To help you create a virus policy that fits your organization's needs, contact T & R Communications of Jacksonville, Inc.

SOFTWARE INSTALLATION POLICY

Developing an effective software installation policy protects each organization from illegal or unlicensed software as well as software that can be incompatible with software that already runs on your network. Each Software Installation Policy will vary based on your organization. Contact T & R Communication of Jacksonville, Inc. to help you develop the software installation policy that best suits your organization.
